Why these cars are cheap to service
Small petrol engines (3–4.5L of oil vs 6+ in bigger stuff), cheap plentiful filters, rear drum brakes, no DPF/AdBlue systems, and quick access — a Picanto service is an hour's honest work. City cars from Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Suzuki and Dacia dominate because parts are commodity-priced and labour time is short.
Watch-outs
Cheap to service isn't always cheap to own — timing belts (e.g. small PSA/Renault engines) add a £250–£550 job every 5–6 years, where many Japanese rivals use chains. Check your exact car above.
